StarTech.com 1 Port PCI Parallel Adapter Card PCI1PECP
I needed to install a software application in Win7 32-bit which is protected by a printer port dongle. My motherboard (MSI P55GD65) does not even have a pin header so I came across this PCI1PECP card. I was initially reluctant as no mention was made of Win7 support (here or at the StarTech site). My system recognized the card but I needed to manually install the drivers which were on the supplied CD (it had versions for Win7 32-64, Vista 32-64 and earlier). The port defaulted to LPT3 which can be renamed. Installation with a restart took under 10 minutes. Software & port lock all happy now and running fine (your mileage may vary depending on application/dongle type).
For me it was worth a gamble considering that the USB port lock offered by the software vendor was going for $250. I previously tried a USB/Parallel cable adapter with no luck. This card did the trick.
I built a nice computer system and installed Win 7 64bit to take advantage of more memory. I have an older HP Laserjet that works just fine for our printing needs in our small office however, it uses a parallel print cable and does not have a USB port. I first tried a USB to parallel conversion cable but even after downloading and installing new 64bit drivers, I could not get Win 7 to recognize the printer. I installed the parallel adapter card and the printer was recognized, installed and prints perfectly.

StarTech.com 1 Port PCI Express Dual Profile Parallel Adapter Card - SPP/EPP/ECP - 2x DB25 IEEE 1284 PCIe Parallel Card
Need to connect my old HP deskjet 500 printer to my new Window 7 computer which does not come with a printer port. Try cheaper USB-to-parallel port adapter but did not work. This product works the minute I installed into my computer. Would recommend to anyone need to connector old printer to new computer without printer port.
Installed this Win 7 approved parallel adapter in a PCI Express slot to obtain a parallel port for an old HP LaserJet 3330 on an HP Pavilion Elite without difficulty. The CD that came with the adapter had old drivers on it and I had to get the updated ones at [...]. Of course this was after talking to support when the card would not install. It should be noted that an USB to Parallel cable does not work on this Windows 7 Machine for a parallel printer.
